Scope †
The Third International Symposium on Atomic Technology (ISAT-3) jointed with The Third Polyscale Technology Workshop (PTW-3) will be held on March 5 and 6, 2009, in Tokyo, Japan.
The Symposium is a part of the project "Atomic Technology" funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, of Japan. The project, which started in 2006, involves close collaborations among three institutes; i.e., Polyscale Technology Research Center (PTRC) at Tokyo University of Science, Center for Atomic and Molecular Technologies (CAMT) at Osaka University and Tsukuba Research Center for Interdisciplinary Materials Science (TIMS) at University of Tsukuba. The goal of the project is to contribute to the development of atomic-scale science and technologies such as functional molecules, biomaterials and quantum functions of atomic-scale structures. The ISAT conference is to offer a forum for the discussion on the latest progress in these fields.
The workshop has been held every year for reporting the progress of the PTRC, which was established in 2006. The "Polyscale Technology" is a concept for developing new technologies starting from the atomic scale to macroscopic scale by interdisciplinary collaborations of the specialist in each field of sciences and technologies. The workshop, PTW-3, will be held as a joint program of the ISAT-3. In addition to the above sessions of the ISAT, topical sessions for the research themes, polyscale bioimaging, polyscale fabrication and polyscale magnetics will be held to report the progresses of the PTRC.
The sessions consist of invited oral presentations and contributed poster presentations. The registration is free of charge (only banquet fee at JPY 3,000 will be applied to the banquet attendee).
